Kevin has been asked by voters in District 28 a comparison between his stance on Common Core Curriculum andKevin J Green that of his opponent, Peter MacGregor.

One of our volunteer staff members spent a few hours researching the issue. This is what he found and know to be true and factual.

FOR COMMON CORE:  Pete Macgregor supported and voted YES to pass HCR 011 (Common Core).

OPPOSE COMMON CORE:  Kevin Green For Senate opposes Common Core.

Further research shows an attempt by the Legislative arm of the Federal Government attempting a take over of local control, by the Feds, as to how we should structure the classroom. The Feds are doing this through the States because the States will be the instrument for the administration of any programs enacted on the Federal Level.

Here are the links for the references from which the above information was gleaned

Here's a posting from a supporter who cannot vote for me because of where he lives.  This is an Adobe PDF which should be readable by all browsers.  CommonCoreFundamentals as posted to my Facebook page.

Why Are You Qualified for The Senatorial Position?

"I'm a normal guy with a normal life.  I've made mistakes.  I think people are just ready for that --- to have a regular person running for office."   As a former City of Wyoming council member and State Representative for not only the City of Wyoming but also for Byron Township for over 11 years; details will go into more depth on my About page, for now I want to provide you with an overview as to the reason I feel qualified as well as providing you with how I feel about running.

I am excited to announce my run for the open State Senate seat presently held by Senator Mark Jansen.  I have thought long and hard about the pros and cons about running and the benefits to the people I would represent in Kent County.  My campaign will give the residents/voters of Kent County an alternative choice to the typical campaign and elected politician.

Through my trials, tribulations and successes I have a deep understanding of the difficulties of our working families.  As a single-father of two beautiful toddlers, Elliot (5) and Meadow (4), I understand the challenges first hand of hard working parents trying to provide for all the daily needs of their children.  Providing good health care, healthy food, a clean and safe home, a great education, a faith in God, a strong work ethic, are just a few of the many things we strive to provide our kids.  I also understand the needs of our struggling older adults and seniors.  My parents are in their 70's this year!

"Here I am, a single dad and a small business owner.  I realize we really need to be going to Lansing and voting and dealing with the problems and finding solutions.  All to often, our elected officials get wrapped up in going to every event which is part of the rat race of politics.  I'm not going to do that."

As the Pro Life Republican Conservative choice on the ballot, I will be putting my faith in God and my children first through-out this campaign and if elected, through-out my term in office. This means I will be forgoing many of the political events and fundraisers, so that I can be home with my family (as our founding fathers meant it to be as a citizen elected official). Yes, that means I will miss some of your events, but I will focus on what matters - continuing to turn this state around and provide the best state we can have to live and work within.

I am running as a citizen leader/candidate. The residents of our state are ready for a part-time legislature and to be done with the ugly politics that plague our state and our country. Our residents are ready for our elected leaders to tell the truth, regardless if it is detrimental to the office holder.

Just like so many of us, our friends and family, I have been through some very painful years. In 2007, we lost our daughter Skylar Anne Green. In 2008, I received a DUI shortly after the one year anniversary of Skylar's death. In 2013, my wife of 11 years and went through a difficult separation and divorce and I left my well-paying job so I could raise my young children. Are these things painful and difficult to speak of? Yes, absolutely, but I could have only gotten through them with the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Will I be perfect as a Senator? No, in fact I am kind of a tease/troublemaker smiling. But I will strive to continue being upfront with you, study the issues/legislation in great detail, be responsive and accessible to my residents and business owners and most importantly be the kind, caring, compassionate person that so many of you have come to know.
